Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History
This is a true jem of a wedding venue, nestled in the Santa Barbara foothills. The beautiful creekside setting makes a great location for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hour. The massive indoor reception hall has multiple built in bars, a stage, and plenty of room for tables and a dancefloor. All this is tucked into the peaceful surroundings of Santa Barbara's Mission Canyon.
NEWS FOR 2012: from April through September, the Museum’s Mission Creek Campus will proudly be presenting a Dinosaur Exhibit in our Fleischmann Auditorium. Please plan on visiting with your family, friends and out of town guests.
During these months, the museum will be available for out of door weddings and receptions. The outdoor area is perfect for up to 200 guests, offering a pristine park like setting along the always flowing Mission Creek. As the guests arrive, they journey across the pedestrian bridge to the Coggleshall Bowl for a welcoming table of cold non alcoholic beverages.
When it is time for the ceremony, the guests are seated in the Wooded Area where they await the wedding party.
After the ceremony, the guests gather at the Broder Building and Patio.
Outdoor receptions with acoustic background music are about family, friends, good food and drink… an ideal setting for a gathering to be remembered for generations.
For your guests who desire a wedding with amplified music, we will also be offering the Luria Gallery and Main Courtyard for wedding receptions of 100 maximum guests. Dancing to amplified music will be allowed inside the Luria Gallery, with plenty of room for a dance floor, wedding cake and beverage station.
For weddings with 60 people or less the main courtyard is ideal for a seated dinner: Dancing can take place in the immediate adjacent Luria Gallery.
